We’re excited to announce that the 2026 raffle quilt has been completed and is on display at Drury Lane Books!
“Waawaate” (Northern Lights – Joyful Dancing Spirits) is another amazing creation from quilt artists Carol Morgen and Nancy Backlund. The intricately-pieced bargello-patterned front, exquisite back panel, and graceful, curved stitching truly capture the magic of our stunning Northern Lights. For this complex quilt front, strips of fabric were sewn together, then cut and re-sewn in staggered rows to create over 2,000 individual squares!
The quilt measures 92 by 110 inches. For reference, a standard queen mattress measures 60 by 80 inches, with queen-sized quilts generally measuring 90-100 inches by 95-110 inches.
Quilt raffle tickets are $5 each and available for sale at:
- Drury Lane Books, Johnson Heritage Post, and Care Partners in Grand Marais
- Lockport Marketplace in Lutsen
- Chicago Bay Marketplace in Hovland
Tickets may be purchased in cash or by check made payable to “Care Partners.” We are prohibited by law from selling raffle tickets online or by credit/debit card.
The quilt raffle drawing will be held on Saturday, August 30th about 15 minutes before the close of our Annual Ice Cream Social which takes place at Sydney’s Frozen Custard from 2-4pm.
