Companion volunteers experience the gift of connecting with older adults in several ways:
- Compassionate presence at end-of-life
- On-going friendly visits
- Phone check-ins
- Caregiver respite
Volunteers choose their assignments based on interest and availability, and are reimbursed for mileage.
Training to Help You Succeed
All volunteers are required to complete training, submit an application and pass a background check. With our self-directed training you can learn the basics of our programs in the comfort of your own home using a combination of online resources and print materials. Training continues with a one-on-one meeting with a staff member scheduled at your convenience at the Care Partners office.
Continued volunteer support is provided through our reporting processes, email updates, and bi-monthly volunteer meetings.
“I would encourage anyone who’s thinking about volunteering as a companion to give it a try. You’re not going to regret it. Go into it with an open mind. You’ll make somebody’s life better – and you’ll benefit too!”
M.K. (Companion volunteer)
