It is said that all of us will be caregivers at some point in our lives—some of us, many times over. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six-week class that gives participants the skills to take care of themselves while caring for a friend or family member – either in their home or from a distance. You are welcome to sign up for this powerful course, whether you are currently caregiving and need some respite and tools to take care of you in the process, or you anticipate being a caregiver in the future. Spring sessions will be led by trained facilitators Kathy Reeves, Retired RN, and Julie Wilson, MSW, LGSW and will meet in person in Care Partners’ new offices at 615 E Highway 61 in Grand Marais on Tuesdays from 10-11:30am, March 11 – April 15.
Previous participants report that the class helped them feel more confident in caregiving. They appreciated the course materials and especially valued the input and thoughts of their fellow caregivers. A recent class attendee explained that the class “prompted me to better understand myself and define steps I could take.” Another reflected, “What I liked best was learning about communication in challenging situations, and how to understand and learn from emotions, especially anger.”
The class includes a Caregiver Helpbook which accompanies the course and provides additional resources. There is no charge for the class, but an optional $35 suggested donation will help cover the cost of course materials. You can register by calling Care Partners at 218-387-3788 or online using the link below. You can also contact Care Partners for information about respite care during the class.
