Care Partners is honored to be recognized by the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation with a Touchstone Award for our Mindfulness Based Dementia Care (MBDC) introductory class and workshop presented in partnership with Michelle Barclay. Duluth television station WDIO recently aired a story for the Touchstone honor given to Care Partners!
The Touchstone Award recognizes and celebrates programs or projects for their leadership in transforming problems into opportunities and service into action. Each year the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation recognizes non-profits that have gone above and beyond to improve the region by fostering Generosity, Civic Engagement and Inclusiveness.
A big thank you for the financial support of event sponsors Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation and Cook County Community Fund!
For the past 25 years, Michelle Barclay has provided aging-related education and consulting to help older people thrive, especially those with chronic conditions including dementia. She currently leads MBDC classes to help caregivers cope with the challenges and stresses of dementia care. By learning to pay attention to the present moment with nonjudgmental awareness and acceptance, caregivers may greatly improve the quality of life for both themselves and those in their care.
