Care Partners and Cook County Higher Education are pleased to present a Lunch & Learn series designed to support aging well in Cook County!  Presented on the fourth Wednesday of the month from noon to 1pm at Cook County Higher Education, these free Lunch & Learn classes feature speakers from area organizations like Age-Friendly Cook County, AARP, North Shore Health, The MN Aging Eyes Initiative, and more!

For many years Care Partners has provided support and companionship along the journey of aging in Cook County. With this initiative, we hope to help our friends and neighbors proactively address the joys and challenges of growing older with dignity, purpose – and perhaps a gentle dose of humor and camaraderie besides!

Join us online OR in person at Cook County Higher Education! Thanks to the generosity of individual donors and granting organizations, free lunch is provided for the first 25 people who register for in-person classes.

Upcoming Lunch & Learn Classes

Wednesday, August 28 – The Ten Warning Signs of Dementia

Alzheimer’s and other dementias cause memory, thinking, and behavior problems that interfere with daily living. Join us to learn how to recognize common signs of the disease; how to approach someone about memory concerns; the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis; possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, and Alzheimer’s Association resources. Our wonderful guest speaker is Jenna Pogorels from the Alzheimer’s Association! Click here to register!

Wednesday, September 18 – Building a Stronger Community “Through the Ages”

NOTE: Our September Lunch & Learn will meet on the 18th – the THIRD Wednesday of the month.

Learn how intergenerational connections can benefit people of all ages! Cook County ISD 166 Principal Josh Belanger will help us discover existing ways that older adults can connect with and support our Cook County students. In addition, we’ll learn about intergenerational events and activities that are currently being explored through collaborative partnerships with area organizations like Care Partners. Participants will also be invited to share their own ideas for connecting community members from generation to generation. Participants can join us for this free class in person at Cook County Higher Education or online via Zoom. As always, free lunch is provided for the first 20 people who sign up to attend in person! Registration coming soon!
