Thanks to everyone who attended our first-of-the-year volunteer meeting! As always, it was so good to catch up with one another, hear the latest news and announcements from Care Partners, and encourage one another on the volunteering journey. We had great discussion about the challenge of confidentiality in our small, close-knit community, and brainstormed ideas for dealing with difficult or uncomfortable topics that clients may bring up. And, of course, we held a drawing for some fabulous prizes – sets of handcrafted greeting cards, pottery from local artists, a $20 gift card from Johnson’s Foods and a $20 gift card from Gene’s Foods.

Dementia Friends is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia, and it aims to transform the way we think, talk and act about the disease. In this session, Care Partners Executive Director Julie Wilson will help us learn about dementia and the small ways we can help. From telling friends about the program to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts! You can join us in person at Cook County Higher Education or online via Zoom.
